FAQ’s
How do I get a puppy?
We accept applications from the time a litter is planned until all the puppies have been matched and picked up by their new owners at 8-10 weeks old. Fill out our application online and we will email back. Pending compatibility, we will schedule an interview. Pending acceptance, your contact and preferences will be added to our waitlist. Waitlist members will receive exclusive weekly email updates including pictures, calendar planning details, and invitation to visit the puppies.
If we do not have a litter planned in the next 6 months, the application will not be available.
How much are your puppies?
Our puppies are $4,000-5,000 and payable by cashier’s check to Kim Wolfe after your application is approved, a puppy is matched, and our puppy purchase contract is signed. Our puppy price is reflective of their quality and investment in raising them. We do not provide discounts for service dogs, veterans, military, or otherwise but we do thank you for your service.
Do you accept deposits?
Depending on how many puppies we have, sometimes we will accept a few deposits for pet-companion puppies between the age of 2-6 weeks old. We will not decide which puppy is yours until 8-10 weeks old after evaluations are complete. The deposit will hold a puppy for you. Most applicants will be waiting to find out if and which puppy is theirs until week 8-10. All puppies will be matched between 8-10 weeks old and payment in full is required when a match is offered, before pickup.

Do you ship or ground transport puppies?
We do not ship or ground transport our puppies. You must come meet us in person to pick up your puppy. When we meet you can visit the littermates, see how they’re raised, meet all our Dobermans, and get an ear and nail care demo. Pickups are scheduled in advance, usually between 8-10 weeks of age. We can meet at our home in Raymond, NE or at our nearest airports LNK (Lincoln Airport) or OMA (Omaha Eppley Airfield).
Can I fly my puppy home with me?
Many airlines allow pet carry on option if the pet is <20lb in an airline approved carrier that fits under the seat. Generally by 8-10 weeks old our puppies are too large to comfortably fit in the carrier and may be turned away by the ticketing agent at check in. If you choose to fly home, you accept the risk that your puppy may be too large and the airline may not allow you to board with them. For this reason we recommend flying or driving to us, and then driving home.
How do I pick which puppy will be mine?
The breeder will pick and match all puppies based on the information gathered and relationship established through your application, interview, and correspondance. Preferences on gender and color will be noted. We do not reserve puppies first come first serve or reserve any specific puppy in advance. We are observing the puppies grow and develop every day since birth, assessing their personalities and physical attributes. At 7 weeks old we do a temperament test called the Volhard Aptitude Test which gives additional insight to their individual temperaments. At 8, 9, and sometimes 10+ weeks old we evaluate the structure and physical attributes. Our process is to sort the puppies into one of these categories by 8-10 weeks of age and then match them to the appropriate corresponding home from our waitlist:
Pet - - most puppies in every litter are pet quality puppies. They may participate in companion events such as obedience, rally, agility if desired but is not required. Pet companion puppies are NOT FOR BREEDING or showing conformation.
Performance - some puppies in the litter have the structure, drive, and temperament that would thrive most competing in events like obedience, rally, agility etc and may be too active for the average pet-companion home. Performance puppies are NOT FOR BREEDING or showing conformation.
Show Prospect - a select few puppies in the litter, often only one or two, conform to the written breed standard close enough to potentially earn an AKC Champion certificate through conformation showing. They may be considered for breeding when mature, titled, and fully health tested. These puppies are co-owned with the breeder and under contractual obligation to meet conformation show requirements.
Will my puppy be cropped/docked?
All puppies will be cropped/docked with our veterinarian before leaving us, no exceptions. Tails are docked and dew claws removed by our vet at 3-5 days old. Ears are cropped by our vet at 7-9 weeks of age. Our pet-companion puppies get a medium-long crop and our show prospect puppies get a little bit longer crop that is complementary to the puppy’s face.
Do you offer help posting ears?
Yes! We use Prima Ear Posting Kit as the simplest and most comfortable method to post ears. We ask our puppy buyer’s to purchase the kit before picking up their new puppy. The kit comes with all the materials you’ll need, step by step tutorial videos, and feedback from start to finish on your puppy’s progress. Shayna of Prima Dobermans sells and ships the kits and has coached over 1,000 clients all over the world including us! Please refer to Shayna for help with any posting questions or needs.
How are your puppies raised?
Our puppies are born and raised in our home and with the puppy culture program, ENS, and ESI. They are intended to be family pets so they are raised like family pets. They are kept warm and clean in a private nursery with our constant care and attention over them and mom. As they get older and more interactive, their room will open into the rest of the house with supervision, they will experience different surfaces and textures, toys and obstacles, all daily household sounds/routines such as vacuuming and tv noises, socialization visits from approved guests and their children, safe and positive interaction with our approved adult dogs, indoor and outdoor exposure as weather conditions permit, car travel, crate exposure, vet visits as necessary, fresh water available at all times, and the best nutrition and supplements we believe in for our dogs.
How often do you have litters?
We may only have one or two litters in a year, and some years will have no litters. Our Dobermans are our household pets first. We put a lot of preparation into planning a litter and raising a litter. Females are only bred between the age of two years old and six years old. They may only have one to three litters in their lifetime. For these reasons, we do not have litters very often.
Can I visit the puppies/your kennel?
For the safety of our dogs/pregnant dams/puppies and our privacy, we do not allow strangers to visit our home. We are happy to meet prospective buyers at an AKC dog show. After submitting an application, interviewing, and approval to our waitlist you will be invited to scheduled one hour puppy play dates to visit and help socialize litters of puppies when they are at least 5 weeks old.
